Compare Environments using Smart Diff

The Smart Diff or smart differentiation option is used to run and compare the security level of the application when it is promoted from staging to production or development environment. The following parameters are compared between the environments using smart differentiation.

  • Application level risk status and scores.

  • Changes in the images and their risk status.

  • Resolved alerts and new alerts that are identified.

  • Vulnerabilities identified in the application.

  • Resolved CVEs and new CVEs.

  • Removed dependencies and newly added dependencies.

To View Smart Diff for an Application:

Smart Difference can be done for an entire application also. Follow the steps below:

  • Navigate to the application risk summary section in the Application Status page.

  • Click Smart Diff.

  • The Smart Diff details page is displayed. Select the environment to which you want to compare the current dev environment with, from the drop down provided, as highlighted below:

On selecting the environments, the compared details between the two are displayed. The displayed details include difference in the security score, images, new alerts, resolved alerts, vulnerabilities and dependencies identified in the environments.

To View Smart Diff for Current Deployments:

Smart differentiation can be done for deployments also. Follow the steps given below to view for current deployments:

  • Navigate to the application risk summary section in the Application Status page.

  • Click Smart Diff.

The Smart Diff page is displayed. Select the environment to which you want to compare the current environment with, from the drop down provided, as highlighted below:

On selecting the environments, the compared details between the two are displayed. The displayed details include difference in the security score, new alerts, resolved alerts, vulnerabilities and dependencies identified in the environments.
